The big “new thing” on IBM i DB is using spatial data. Cartography is as old as civilization itself. From crossing oceans to planning cities, information was collected and transcribed onto paper. Just as we digitized text and numbers, cartographers started putting point, line, and polygon data into digital systems. DB2 for i now has spatial object support.  The geospatial support is not only for use by spatial analysts. These special types of vector data and databases are somewhat esoteric for application developers. We will show you what you can already achieve today and the huge potential for your business by making your database more location-aware. Using geospatial technologies to gather location information provides us with data that can give a deeper understanding of a whole host of issues.
