Common Europe, in collaboration with FAQ400 (Italy), is delighted to be holding its annual flagship event, Common Europe Congress, in the fashionable city of Milan offering extensive education, networking and relaxation opportunities. It’s also a great opportunity for exploring the city… so why not take a family mini-break as well.

Congress education areas targeted are IBM Power hardware, Application Development, Advanced RPG, Open Source tools and Languages, System Management, Db2 and SQL,  IBM Storage, IBM i services and microservices, Security and Compliance and much more.

There will be two AIX / Linux tracks, to emphasize the Power Systems character of Common Europe.
Top IBM Business Architects and industry experts have already agreed to share their knowledge on the latest announcements, customer cases as well as practical subjects.

Linux for IBM i Administrators

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

WRKACTJOB, WRKDSKSTS, WRKSYSSTS—unfortunately, not available for Linux/AIX. Too bad! How does one survive as an IBM Power system administrator transitioning from the IBM i world? Featuring the most performant, safe, and flexible virtualization system (PowerVM), IBM Power systems are well-prepared to support a variety of workloads beyond IBM i. Artificial Intelligence, SAP Hana, Openshift, just to name a few. We will review the necessary steps to build a valid Linux configuration, analyze the tools available to make our lives easier, and establish a correlation between IBM i and Linux terminology. I'm not a Linux expert; I'm just an IBM i guy. But I managed to put in production some SAP Hana systems, DB2 Warehouse, and Openshift—all of them on IBM Power, of course. And Ansible was very useful in the process.
